The design consideration for a drive is important factor before manufacturing the gear drive.
The first step in the design of gear drive is the selection of a proper type of gear for a required application.
The factors that are considered for deciding the type of gear are,
- general layout of shaft.
- speed reduction.
- power to be transmitted.
- input speed.
- cost.
Design consideration for a gear drive is as follows:-

4. The manufacturing of a gear drive is complicated and or required skilled workers.
5. Manufacturing cost of gear drive is more.
6. The gear drive required proper alignment between the shafts.
